Delbert Evans Obituary

Delbert "Del" L. Evans, LTC, Ret. Nov 8, 1917 - Aug 1, 2007. Delbert Leonard Evans, 89 of Colorado Springs passed away August 1, 2007. He was born November 8, 1917, in Lafayette, CO to William J. and Mary L. Evans. He is survived by his wife Virginia, sons Richard O., MD of Colorado Springs and David J. of Denver and four grandchildren, Laura and Tom of Colorado Springs and Jeremy and Julia of Denver. Mr. Evans graduated from East High School, Denver in 1936. He attended Colorado School of Mines and graduated from the University of Colorado with a BS in Civil Engineering in 1949. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a navigator. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War as a trigonometry and navigation instructor. Mr. Evans worked for the US Bureau of Reclamation from 1941 to 1960. In 1960 he relocated to Colorado Springs and worked for Air Defense Command until his retirement in 1973. He was an active member of the American Baptist Church. He served as a Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts for several years. He was a member of many Masonic organizations. He was an avid toy train collector and long time member of Train Collectors Association. A memorial service will be held for Mr. Evans at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver on Wednesday August 15 at 1:00 PM.
