Donald Charles Hare
Donald Charles Hare, a loving husband, father, and friend to all, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, April 6th, 2023. He was born on April 10th, 1937 in Oakland, California to Charles Richard Hare (Father) and Anna Ingeborg Josephine Sjoberg (Mother). Don was the second of three children and his family moved to Napa, CA shortly thereafter.
Don graduated from Napa High School in 1955 and went on to graduate from the University of Nevada, Reno with a BS in Civil Engineering in 1959. Following his graduation, Don attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as an Ensign in the Navy where he served for four years.
After finishing his service in the Navy, Don moved to the San Francisco area where he began working for Henry Doelger in the development of Daly City. Eventually, Don and his family moved to Atlanta and Dallas prior to moving to Colorado Springs.
While in Atlanta Don worked as a developer at Peachtree World of Tennis as well as Lakeway World of Tennis outside Austin. He lived a short time in Dallas. In 1983 he moved to Colorado Springs to develop and build properties for Hill Development Corporation. Significant developments that Don led were several private homes, the redevelopment of the Garden of the Gods Club, Kissing Camels Golf Club, the Galatyn Lodge in Vail and the Garden of the Gods Visitors Center. Don also developed commercial properties in the region.
Don enjoyed tennis, scuba diving, skiing, travel, biking and walking his beloved Westies but golf was his passion.
He is survived by Sharon Hare, his wife of 41 years; daughter; Tracy Gibson (Lang) of Louisville, KY; son Michael Hare (Beth) of Phoenix; two granddaughters, Cameron and Ansley and daughter: Susan Kimberly Hare of Portland, Oregon.
