On Sunday December 30, 2012, Donna Smith Quinlan, a kind-hearted friend to many and a devoted mother to three young women, left us to start her next journey.
Following her birth into a military family on September 22, 1956, in Germany, Donna went on to grow up in the United States with her parents, Ruby and Otto Smith, and with her five siblings, Bobby Joe, Roy, Mark, Elaine, and Gary. Primarily raised in the Houston area, Donna has touched many lives with her contagious laugh, youthful spirit, benevolent mentality, and courageous strength over her 56 years of life.
Donna enjoyed traveling and planning trips with her family and closest friend, Joslynn Anderson. She was constantly meeting new people and making new friends, which was her love -- people. She left behind a Service Account Manager position in sales. She enjoyed being an active new member of Rotary International and a resident of the April Sound subdivision on Lake Conroe for more than 20 years. Donna was an involved parent in the Montgomery school system and its cheerleading and band programs, and most of all an irreplaceable mother and role model for her three girls, which she loved more than life itself.
Donna is preceded in death by her father and by her brother Gary. Surviving are her three daughters, Patricia Donna Quinlan, 22, Donna Ann Quinlan, 18, and Tommie Linda Quinlan, 16. To her daughters, the loss of their mother comes at a great price but they are fervent to continue her legacy of her positive impact on all who knew her.
A visitation will be held in Donna's memory on Monday, January 7th at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 8227 County Road 205, in Plantersville, Texas, from 10:00 to 11:00 am. The memorial service will begin at 11:00 am and a lunch will follow at the same location.

I say a prayer for you girls every time I drive by your home. We have lived a few doors down for the last 13 years and my sons have gone to school with your girls. It was obvious that your mother was such a warm and caring person. Every holiday the outside of your home was decorated for all to enjoy. My now nine year old son couldn't wait every year for your Halloween decorations and to go to trick-or treating at your home through the large "Monster Mouth". I can remember your home being decorated for a "High School Musical" Party and thought what a great mom! We are so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. May peace be with you.

My son, Zachary Soules, and Tommie were friends and classmates in the first and third grades together at SCE.
As a result, Donna and I were on Class Party Committees together to plan all the holiday parties. Having raised two older daughter's Donna brought experience, humor and realistic expectations to first time moms! I always admired her calm demeaner, beautifully dressed style and her ability prioritize her day to meet both her needs and the childrens.
My thoughts and prayers are with each soul who is grieving the loss of this special woman.
