Dora Carver Obituary

Carver
Dora Mae (Ogle) Carver
December 27, 1924 - April 27, 2018
Dora Mae (Ogle) Carver was born December 27, 1924 in Bartlett, Kansas, daughter of Daniel Wesley Ogle and Etta May Mumy. She passed away in hospice in a local nursing home on April 27, 2018 at age 93. She married Wayne Carver Jan 01, 1947 and was a devoted wife for 70 years before Wayne passed away last year. They had three children together: Linda, Terry, and Kathy. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Leonaine Vesta Ogle/Smith, Ivan Maurice Ogle, Raymond Merle Ogle, Dale Wesley Ogle, and Jean Louise Ogle/Rands as well as her son Terry Wayne.
Survived by Daughter, Linda Munson (Jerry), Grand Children Jacob Munson, (Petra), Great Grandchildren Adia Munson, Jacob R Munson, Sky Munson (Kelby Schultz) and great-great granddaughter Evangeline Schultz, grandchildren, Nathaniel Munson (Samantha), Jonathan Munson (Cassandra Irons), great-grandchildren, Eric and Naveah Mikelburg, Isabella Munson.
Preceded in death by her Cerebral Palsy Son, Terry Wayne who lived for nearly 54 years. They had been told Terry wouldn't live to be very old and we credit the excellent care Mom gave him for his longevity. She always made sure he had the best care possible, which meant keeping him at home instead of in an institution as she had been advised. He grew up to be a very happy and loving young man, loved by many.
Survived by Daughter Kathy Carver/Bohuslavsky (Kevin Bo), Grandson, Joshua Bohuslavsky (Tianna Sandoval), great-grandchildren, Joshua Jr, Esiah, Deion, Harmony, granddaughter, Jordan Bohuslavsky (Joshua Herrera) great-grandchild Joshua Jr Herrera.
After High School, Dora Mae being very independent, traveled by Bus to live with her sister (Lynn) in California. She felt she would be bored in a small Kansas town after graduation. Then she and her sister moved back to Kansas to go into business for themselves raising a rare sheep breed.
Wayne and Dora Mae met on a blind date in Colorado; they were married in Kansas by Wayne's Father (Robert). As they were moving to Colorado, they were stranded in a blizzard in Kansas and then on their honeymoon they went skiing; where Wayne had to carry Dora Mae up the slope to the Lodge because she sprained her ankle. He skied by her a couple of times before he realized she was hurt because she was laughing at herself. They had many more stories that they shared over the 70 years of marriage.
She took a Teletype class and was chosen to work at Pete Field in Civil Service. When she left there, she went to work for Sears as a Customer Service Rep and retired from Sears.
She was also very active in her church in the Children's Ministry. She loved music and played a steel guitar in a small group and they would entertain at the USO and other such gatherings. She would also play at church and sometimes have Linda accompany her on the piano.
Dora Mae and Wayne traveled a lot and went to Hawaii, Canada, and Bermuda and saw many sights from New York to California, Alaska to Arizona, the Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns, and Niagara Falls. They took many trips visiting family and friends and took along their grandchildren when possible.
Dora will be sorely missed by all the family and friends she is leaving behind. She was always considered to be such a polite and thankful person. The Nursing home staff continually commented about how she could be feisty and independent, yet she was still always loving and thankful for everything they did. She is dearly loved and is now rejoicing in heaven with her Lord, her husband, and her son as well as all her friends and family who went before her.
Memorial will be Friday, May 4th from 6-8 PM at Memorial Gardens
Funeral will be Saturday, May 5th at 11 AM at Awakening Church. 3445 Oro Blanco

Linda - I didn't know your mom as well as I did your dad; but, after hearing all the stories about her - the song that comes to mind by Steven Green "may the footsteps that they leave, lead us to believe..." seems so appropriate. what a special blessing she was to so many and for her tenacity in helping Terry - love ya'll
