Doris Hiller Obituary

Doris Ann Hiller was born on July 27th, 1927 in Galveston, Texas to Henry and Erna Rasche. She graduated from St. John's Lutheran College in Winfield, Kansas and has remained a loyal 'Johnnie.' At St. John's she met Harold M. Hiller and was instantly swept off her feet. Harold and Doris were married on August 12th, 1950 and together they raised three children. She faithfully supported her husband in his pastoral ministry in Illinois, Oklahoma, Colorado, and finally California. They returned to Colorado after retirement where they continued serving their Lord. Holy Cross was special to Doris and she was active in various areas at the church including Bible studies, LWML, prayer chain, and supporting VBS. Doris enjoyed travel and went on many adventures with her family and, more recently, her 'wandering widow' friends. She loved ice cream and hot fudge, three o'clock snacks, butterflies, antiquing, and concerts, but most of all, she loved her Lord. Doris' children and grandchildren were always special to her and a significant part of her life, especially since Harold's passing in 1997. Doris had a gentle and generous spirit that was recognized by all who met her. She will be greatly missed. Doris is remembered by her three children: Dena Bauer (husband, Rudy); Dorcas Martin (husband, Steve); Joel Hiller; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be held at Memorial Gardens, Sunday November 13th, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Services will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Monday, November 14th, at 10:00 a.m.

My deepest sympathy to the family. I will miss Doris sitting behind me in Church and the "hug" each Sunday. I have fond memories of the trips to the mountains and to Branson that we enjoyed together. My Prayers are with you!
