Ernestine Pogar Obituary

Ernie, age 85, was called home February 23, 2012, with her adoring family by her side. Ernie was born in Miltenberg, Germany, on January 19,1927, to Max and Elisabeth Deyerl. She was the secretary for a U.S. Army Colonel after WWII where she met her future husband, John who was stationed in Germany at the time. She came to the U.S. with her new husband and became a U.S. citizen. They settled into military life - moving from place to place and eventually settled in Colorado Springs in 1958. Ernie and John had 8 children. She was devoted to her family and church. She started the food pantry at Divine Redeemer and served on many parish committees. As a talented musician she played classical piano and sang in the church choir. Ernie was beloved by her family and all who knew her for her kind and compassionate heart. She was preceded in death by her husband, John and 3 siblings. She is survived by her children, Jenette Ogrodnick, Marie Devlin (Dick), John Pogar (Diana), Mike Pogar (Janet), Pat Pogar (Julie), Theresa Flanigan (Steve), Rosemary Pogar, Steve Pogar (Janet), 18 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Her surviving siblings are Maria Deyerl, Hermann Deyerl, Elisabeth Lucke, and Wolfgang Deyerl. All will miss her presence in their lives. Visitation will be on Friday, March 2nd from 5:00 - 7:00 PM with rosary following at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 East Fountain Blvd. Funeral Mass will take place Saturday, March 3rd, 10:00 AM at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 927 N. Logan Ave. Following the service, the family invites you to join them at the church to celebrate her life. She will be interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery with her beloved husband. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Divine Redeemer food pantry. Online condolences may be made to www.evergreenfuneralhome.org.
