Tim became my friend at the University of Puget Sound where I have worked for 20+ years. Because of his IT knowledge (any my ineptitude) while working for the IT department as a student, he became a regular and a welcome visitor to my office. Despite being 30 years older, during those visits he and I became friends and bonded over over our common interests, namely our love and participation in music ensembles and our shared bonds of brotherhood through Sigma Chi, which I was member of as a student at Puget Sound as well. He was always kind, patient and just so darn friendly that it was impossible not to be drawn to the flame of his personality. He was one of those rare students I got to know and dearly missed after they graduated and moved on to their future. I was heart-broken to learn of his passing this past weekend at Summer Reunion Weekend at which the 75th anniversary of the Delta Phi chapter of Sigma Chi was celebrated. Many talked about how meaningful their friendship with Tim was. I am praying for his family as they grieve this difficult loss for us all.
