Francis Edward "Nick" Nickle, Jr., a 4th generation Colorado Springs native, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 at 5:30pm in his home.

Francis was born on July 22, 1945 to Francis Edward Nickle, Sr. and Joy Nadine (McClelland) Nickle in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He graduated from Pasadena College in 1968. Later accomplishing his master's degree from Colorado College in 1973, while working as a public high school educator. He retired from Mitchell High School after 33 years. Francis will be remembered by his many friends and family for his jovial personality, generosity, natural storytelling, passion for fatherhood, devoted husband, his relationship with God and his kindhearted wit. He was a very well respected, passionate teacher and was able to intrigue his students with his unique style. He was a lover of philosophy, journalism, history, art, music and poetry. Francis believed we could make the world a better place together. Francis's avid traveling brought back many delightful stories told in a Scottish or Irish brogue and treasures to share with his loved ones. But above all, Francis adored his daughters and family.

He married Leslie Dare Roebuck December 1995 in Green Mountain Falls.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Nickle Dragon and Lili Dare Nickle (Vance Lindsley); a brother, Gary James Nickle; and a sister, Pamela Joy Walton. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers, Wayne Dean Nickle and Clayton Paul Nickle.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2021 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910. Inurnment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Chapel Mausoleum following the service.
