Gaetan Belleview Obituary

Gaetan Michel Belleview finished his journey on earth February 13, 2016 passing away peacefully at home from acute bronchopneumonia in Colorado Springs. His given birth name was Michel Fredeen.

Surviving Gaetan Michel, are his mother, two older brothers, a twin sister, a niece, a nephew, and twin great nephews. He was 58 and was preceded in death by his father.

Michel was born to Dale and Becky Fredeen in 1957 in Ohio. As his father was an Air Force officer this meant the family lived in a variety of places from Minnesota, Okinawa, Florida, Alabama, Ohio, Michigan, Arizona, Alaska, and Colorado. Michel graduated from Mitchell High School in 1975 and attended Pikes Peak Community College.

As a young adult Gaetan Michel started working for Farmers Insurance in 1976. He then worked for Hewlett-Packard for six years. Gaetan Michel then left HP to pursue his lifelong dream to travel internationally. He relished his tour of Europe, meeting many people and experiencing their cultures with them. Gaetan Michel then resourcefully integrated his traveling interests with work by becoming a flight attendant for America West Airlines for four years. After the airline's bankruptcy, he returned to Colorado Springs to work again for Hewlett-Packard. During his 19 years and ten months cumulative years with HP he wore many hats – from sales project manager, international order processing, financial services center, accounts payable, and call center lead/CRC case resolution. Following his career at HP he worked for Current Inc. in CRC until 2015.

Friends of Gaetan Michel fondly describe him as generous, vivacious, gregarious, colorful, intuitive, and they dearly enjoyed being in his company.

Gaetan Michel imparted his zeal for life with people from all walks of life and so too had a vast array of talents: celebrating people, humor, music, fashion, traveling, gardening, collecting crystals, African drumming, and as a metaphysician. He had such awe for the world, all its wonders, colors, and inspirational light. He was a member of the CS Orchid Society. He volunteered at El Paso County Health Department and at Celebrations.

During his life Gaetan Michel consistently took time to be with people by generously sharing his compassion and supporting them whatever their needs. For Gaetan Michel, people came first. He shared from what he had; a smile, an encouraging word, a listening ear, monetary assistance, or even a place to live. Gaetan Michel's life's passion was to give Love and Light. He delighted in giving care, love, joy, laughter, and gifts.

A memorial service to celebrate Gaetan Michel's life and spirit is planned for Saturday, April 30th at 2:00 PM at St. Raphael's Episcopal Church at 802 Leta Drive in Security, Colorado. Reverend Dr. Christopher Johnson will be the celebrant. A gathering will follow for all to share memories of Gaetan Michel.

Regarding donations Gaetan Michel would wish that friends and family contribute to an organization that would benefit people.

Throughout his life Gaetan Michel willingly and generously gave of himself from his heart. For all of us who knew him it is this that we grieve. We miss his presence in our lives, for now he rests.

Michel, mi vida, my long search has ended tragically. My heart is broken I will never forget our fun times together you taught me more about myself than I ever knew. Something told me to run a search in the death notices, that's when I found your name where I never ever thought I would find you, I still have the gifts you gave me I cherish my memories. Oh Michel, I love and miss you, fly high my dear friend

Almost 9 years since you left this world...I still hold a place in my heart and memories of you. Your laughter, the way you tilted your head back and let it burst forth... you scattered joy each time. What better tribute could there be for a soul that has walked on this earth than those who continue to remember and honor you. Until we meet again my friend...

I too was looking to connect with my old HP friend who I became friends with over the phone from the CO division to MA Sales Office.

I am so saddened that I was unable to tell you I found your name and HP phone number in an old rolodex. I wanted to laugh about your trip to MA one Thanksgiving and my Mom tried to fix you up with another guest. You fit right in with all the chaos of a large family. Then we went to HP's property on Cape Cod for more laughs.

Condolences to your family as I know they miss the joy, kindness and laughter you brought to any family....including mine.

Miss you my friend.

I am so sad to learn that Michel died. I was in the process of trying to find him to reconnect. We were laughing about the humor he brought to our team at HP.

RIP, Michel.

Michel, The world lost a wonderful light when you left us. Someone gave me a quote that describes you, "Death is not extinguishing the flame, but putting out the light because the dawn has come." Will see you again.

In memory of my lovely friend, Michel, who I fell out of touch with in recent years but remember with great joy. He was a gentle and brilliant soul who made others feel wonderful; he knew that everybody was somebody. That kind of love and grace and his kindness will never be forgotten. My sympathy to his family for his loss, may God soften your grief during this time.

Peace be with you, dear GM. This took me back to the 'good ole' days' at Hewlett Packard. People make the job and he was a part of why I loved working there so much back then. Always a smile, always a positive and flattering word. Even if I didn't want to, hearing him laugh always made me smile. You will be missed, my friend. God Bless.

Hearing of Michel's passing brought a flood of memories from long ago. Our paths diverged and we lost touch but from time to time a memory of shared time would bring a smile. He was kind beyond words, I loved his laugh and perspective on the world. His gift was joy and laughter when you saw none. We were good friends and I loved him dearly. I can still hear is laugh and see his smile...
