Dr. Gary Steven Markewich of Colorado Springs passed away on June 22, 2022, peacefully in his sleep. He was born in 1944 to Jake and Florence Markewich of Houston, Texas. He attended the University of Texas in Austin and went on to earn his M.D. specializing in dermatology. He completed his internship and residency at Brook Army Medical Hospital in San Antonio Texas and served in the United States Army. In 1973, he was transferred to Fort Carson in Colorado Springs with his wife Carolyn and his sons Jeff and Bob.
In 1975, he opened a private practice in Colorado Springs, where he treated patients until 1991, the year he moved his practice to Las Vegas, Nevada. He was very passionate about practicing medicine and his patients loved him. One of his biggest joys in life was schmoozing with and telling stories to his patients. He also loved spending time with his sons and grandchildren. In 2018 he moved back to Colorado Springs to be near his family. His sisters Marilyn and Maureen predeceased him. He is survived by his sons Jeff, Bob, and Aaron, and his grandchildren, Frances and Julius. We love and will miss you.
A memorial and celebration of life will be held at Temple Shalom at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, June 28, followed by a burial at Sons of Israel Cemetery. A reception will be announced at the end of the service. In lieu of flowers, he would have appreciated donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Thank you Dr. Markewich!! I grew up with you and you will be missed! My mom worked for you and you saw and ALWAYS made my sister's, Tammy, Terry and I feel loved!!
