Genevieve "Genny" Hastings, 94, of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be greatly missed.

Genny was born on July 31, 1929, in Moorefield, Nebraska. She grew up nearby in Curtis and Maywood, Nebraska, and later moved to Grand Island. She married James T. Hastings on June 1, 1946. While Jim was in the U.S. Air Force, they lived in many places, finally settling in Colorado Springs upon his retirement in 1969. She loved visiting with family and friends, traveling, shopping, country music, and her garden. Her sense of humor and joy were contagious and will live on in all who knew her.

She is survived by her son James T. Hastings II (Jinda), daughter Sherry Hall, grandchildren Stacy Lala (Brandon), Jennifer Green, Jamey Hastings (Travis Duncan), Seth Hastings (Alea), Samuel Hastings (Leah), 11 great grandchildren, sister Judith "Judy" Sonderup, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband James T. Hastings, mother and father, Cora and Floyd Maret, brothers Kenneth, Tommy, and Paul Maret, sisters Annabelle "Annie" Linner, Bonnie Runyon, Lucille "Sissy" Brazda, Peggy Mueller, and Doretha "Babe" Luthy, and great grandson Taylor Woods.

A memorial service will be held at Swan-Law Funeral Home located at 501 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, CO, on July 23, 2024, at 9 a.m. The inurnment at Fort Logan National Cemetery will follow.
