George Bruson Obituary

George Francis Bruson took his final flight December 15, 2010. He was born February 22, 1920 to Joseph and Frances Berislavic Bruson in Sugar Creek, MO. After two years of college he worked at a Kansas City bank until December 1941 when he reported to Army Air Corps pilot training in Texas. From north Africa he flew missions over France, Sicily and Italy. In 1944 George married hometown girl Josephine Maglich and was stationed at Barksdale Field, LA for three years. In 1950 he graduated from the U. of Missouri with an accounting degree. He was in Japan 1950-53 where he climbed Mt. Fuji and where his family eventually joined him. At Carswell AFB, TX, he started his computer data processing career. By this time George and Jo had their four children. After postings in MA and AL and four years at the Pentagon, the family lived in Wiesbaden, Germany for three years before coming to Ent AFB in Colorado Springs in 1964. He retired an Air Force Lt.Col. in 1969, and worked business machine sales and real estate and started Frontier Realty. In high school George was active in football, baseball, track and tennis, and in Colorado Springs he loved umpiring softball games. Into his sixties he still skied and played tennis. He was a Silver Key driver and taught adult literacy and English for foreign-born, and contributed to numerous charities. George was an honest, caring man with a fun sense of humor, dedicated to his work and his family and his Christian faith. He is dearly missed. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Josephine; sons Michael (Daisy) and David; daughters Jane Anderson and Marian Easton; grandsons Bill Easton IV and Dave (Cathy) Easton and Connor Bruson; great-grandkids Bill Easton V, Chris Easton, and Lilli Easton. A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, December 21, 2010, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, with a Rosary service to follow at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at 1:00 p.m., Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 1520 E. Yampa, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

At family get-togethers, I always looked forward to hearing Mr. Bruson's stories about growing up in a Croatian community in Sugar Creek and about being a pilot in WWII. Those memories will not fade. I was lucky to have known him. He and his family are in my thoughts and prayers.

So sorry to hear of Uncle George's passing. I have great memories of a ski trip back in '76....Aunt Meeka and I traveled to Colorado to meet George and Josie up in Vail. Snowing like crazy, yet we stopped off in Breckenridge on the way back to Colorado Springs for George to make a couple of runs down the mtn! What a skier!!! May the wonderful memories you have of your dad and grandfather bring you peace at this difficult time! Love, Cousin Anne Marie
