George Klapac Memoriam

Everywhere he went a friend was there to greet him. Literally "Hello", "Hey George", "Hi there stranger" echoed as friendly greetings followed him throughout his life, finding no barrier of geography or custom, class or circumstance. George was loved, respected and trusted by many. Most of all his kindness and friendliness created a life full of meaning. With a smile that beamed and a laugh so genuine he brightened the lives of all that knew him. With strength and kindness his presence made each encounter brighter, happier, funnier... better. Without him, 10 years later, life continues but not without the subtle reminder of the happiness he brought with just a smile, the kindness he showed, the lives he changed and the person he was. With sorrow we still miss him, with much pleasure we remember him and with gratitude we are thankful for his impact on our lives. Forever remembered with love by his wife Erika, sons and daughter-in-laws Klaus & Jerri and Mike & Kim, granddaughter Jazmen, brothers John & Paul and sister Eleanor.

I served with George in Aviano Italy in the late 70s and had a wonderful relationship with him during our time in the Command Post. RIP George!

Besides his many other accomplishments, George was a retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant, a rank much sought yet seldom achieved. I came to know him in the late sixties when we were stationed together in northern Italy, and have never yet met his equal to this day. A man of great strength and honor, and unlikely to be forgotten.
