George Allyn Meehleis passed away peacefully in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on August 9, 2023. He was was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis Meehleis, and his 2 sons Guy Meehleis and Troy Meehleis. George is survived by his sons and their families, Dan and Laurie Meehleis of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Rick and Michelle Meehleis of Fort Collins, Colorado. Additionally, he is survived by 12 Grand-Children and 22 Great-Grand Children. George and Phyllis were married for 67 years, and spent most of their lives in the Black Forest, Colorado. They were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS). George was born in Los Angeles ,California. While attending Inglewood High school, he qualified to play in the L.A. Open twice at Riviera Country Club. After High school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, and was a tail-gunner in a B-27. He Graduated from the University of California L.A. with a BS in Business Management. From 1976 to 1986 George was General Manager in the Manufacturing Division of Litton Data Systems in Colorado Springs. George's Great-Grandfather pioneered Holyoke, Colorado in the late 1800's. His Grand Father and his brothers ran the Union Pacific railroad route from Denver to Cripple Creek during the Gold Rush years. One of the highlights of George and Phyllis' life was working in the LDS Denver Temple every week for 7 years. George was an avid L.A. Dodger fan since 1959, and often commented that he was their "greatest fan". Services will be held at the LDS church located at 6950 Shoup Road in Black Forest, Colorado on Wednesday August 16, 2023 At 10:00 AM. All are Welcome.
