November 22, 2023

George J. Whitworth born January 26, 1937, passed away peacefully at home on November 22, 2023, at the age of 86. Born in Sallisaw Oklahoma, George's military career took him all over the world until he met his wife Karen in 1959 in Morocco. Together they had 5 children and eventually settled in Colorado Springs, Colorado. George spent his life being a beacon of love and light to all that surrounded him even being known as "Grandpa" to his entire neighborhood before they knew his name. George had a known sweet tooth and would always say he was "so sweet because he ate so much candy." He also loved peanut butter (or nuts in any form), the Denver Broncos, and the USA. Above anything in his life, George treasured his family which included 5 children, 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is preceded in death by his cherished wife Karen, mother Lida, father Tom, and 7 siblings. He is survived by his children Tom (Diana), Dawn (Don), Dana, Jack (Tina), and Jeannie. Services will be announced at a later date.
