Barbara Carol Crawford, 85, of Colorado Springs, passed away on March 1, 2026.
Barbara was born in Elmhurst, Illinois, and later moved with her family to northern Minnesota. She fondly recalled ice skating on the pond beside their farmhouse and singing with her sisters while doing chores together. She graduated from high school in Aitkin, Minnesota, and earned a teaching degree from St. Cloud State.
Barbara began her teaching career in Alexandria, Minnesota. Her adventurous spirit soon led her to Orange County, California, where she continued teaching. There she met and married Charles A. Glazner, a U.S. Navy officer. Together they lived in Japan, Texas, and Colorado Springs, where they settled in 1973. Charles passed away in 1976.
Barbara later married Lewis A. "Lewie" Crawford on July 11, 1981. Their marriage was a true partnership, rooted in shared curiosity, adventure, and love. They enjoyed skiing, hiking, backpacking, camping, and traveling to all seven continents. Her cooking and baking were legendary, and many friends and family fondly recall visits to their welcoming home.
Barbara loved music, sang in the choir at First United Methodist Church for 35 years, and held season tickets to the Colorado Springs Symphony for decades. Known for her warmth, she tackled life with grace, grit, and integrity.
She is survived by her siblings Patricia Goehrs (Hal), Judith Kinstead (Wes), Janice Edstrom (the late Thomas), and Nancy Sersen (Timothy); her daughters Margaret Glazner, Sara Baese (Philip), Ann Sanders (Keith), and Margaret Quintana (Robbie); and grandchildren Spencer and Lauren Baese, Aaron Sanders, and Brook Quintana.
A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs on April 18, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the church's Music and Arts Department or the Colorado Springs Symphony.
