H. Youngquist Obituary

Dr. H. Warren Youngquist
April 26, 1944
July 6, 2022

Dr. Warren Youngquist passed unexpectedly and suddenly on July 6, 2022, surrounded by his family. Born April 26, 1944, in Laredo, Texas, Warren was the first of four boys to parents Henry (WWll Pilot) and Jeanne Youngquist. He grew up in Waverly, Iowa, and attended the University of Iowa for all his education. He graduated Alpha Omega (first in class) from Dental school in 1970 and Orthodontia in 1974. Warren served as a Captain in the US Air Force and was a proud Vietnam Veteran, receiving the Air Force Commendation Medal.
In 1974, Warren began a very successful Orthodontic practice in Colorado Springs and Lamar. He thoroughly enjoyed his work and seemed to know something special about every one of his patients. He was also involved with the Dental associations and was a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. He retired in 2010.
Warren met his soul mate, best friend, and the love of his life, Elizabeth, in Colorado Springs and married in 1983. They shared an amazing, adventurous, and loving life together. Warren had a wonderful zest for life. He did everything to live a better, healthier, and longer life not only for himself but also for his family and friends. Warren was the life of the party and lit up the room when he entered with his big smile, energy, and positive attitude. He made fun happen! He was an incredible friend and an even better life mentor through his advice, knowledge, and the example he set to so many, young and old. It was amazing how he could meet someone once, and they would never forget him as he was so interesting, wise, and engaging. His friends called him "Wiki Warren" because he was smart and knew something about everything. But he was the ultimate gentleman, humble, and kind. When receiving a compliment, he always answered, "aren't you nice."
Throughout his life, Warren enjoyed numerous activities, including windsurfing, skiing, fly fishing, backpacking, running, hiking, golf, blues and rock n roll music, cars, and traveling. He loved adventures with his family, such as yearly father/brother/son fishing trips and "Broski" ski trips. One of Warren's favorite sayings was, "It's all Good!" and he certainly lived that way.
Warren never stopped learning and achieving. He became an accomplished drummer at the age of 60 and played in the neighborhood band, was asked to marry family and friends, and became a sommelier.
Warren and Elizabeth traveled, throughout their lives, extensively around the world. Whether they were on wine trips, in beautiful cities and countrysides, on beaches, or on small ship cruises, they most enjoyed being together and with family and friends. They were also fortunate to have built their dream home on Maui, which Warren enjoyed to the fullest for 20 years, inviting many friends and family - always the perfect host.
Warren would contribute much of his success to luck, although he worked very hard and provided generously to his family. We are the lucky ones to have had this incredible man in our lives, and we will miss him tremendously.
Warren is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth, his sons Dr. Adam Youngquist (Bernadette) and Josh Youngquist, grandsons Tristan and Alec, brothers Dr. Robert Youngquist (Blythe), Keith (Lar), Paul (deceased), in-laws Gary and Maryann Markle, mother in law Maria Klayman, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Warren's Wonderful Life will be held on September 17, 2022. For information, please email [email protected].

I had the privilege of working for this incredible man. As super intelligent as he was, he never talked down to anyone. He is forever in my heart.

Somehow, amidst the awful losses of Covid, I missed Warren's obituary but have found it now. I loved Warren and Elizabeth. Together they were a remarkably powerful and yet warm couple. Warren hired me for a bunch of parties for his wildly successful Dental practice and it was always a blast. I wrote a song for one of them to celebrate a birthday, I believe, and we all had a good laugh. Life is hard. This is a loss to the whole community. Rest in peace, Warren. Liz, lovely to see you at the show last week. Peace j

So sad to hear about Warren's passing. His obituary described him to the T. One thing that always impressed me about Warren was as educated as he was, he never talked down to any of his staff. I always appreciated that. I assisted him at his Lamar office. I am truly saddened by his passing. My condolences to Liz and his family.

Our condolences to Elizabeth and family.
Warren was a great person and one of my favorite drummer/musicians. If there's a rock n roll heaven, you know he's there as he loved music!
We will miss him. He was popular, with lots of friends, so humble and fun to be around.

Condolences to Dr. Youngquist's family & friends.
He was my orthodontist for about 4 years in the late 70s/early 80s. I had a lot of anxiety about the process at first (I was in college at the time) but soon came to look forward to my monthly appointment because of his kindness & care. He also had the most wonderful staff, which is a reflection on his leadership and cheerful character.

LIz, Adam, Josh, Keith, Bob, & family,
I am so sorry to hear about Warren. Although i didn't know him well, because of distance, I always kept "tabs" through Keith & Bob. When i did see him, it was like he was my "brother" too! I am lucky to have known him! May his memory be a blessing for all who loved him!

So sad to hear of his passing... He was my orthodontist for what seemed like 1/2 my life! He did wonders to my teeth. Then when I had kids he was their orthodontist. No one but the best! He was always the nicest to me and my family and I always thought he was just the coolest person. It was truly an honor knowing him!

I worked for Warren back in the mid 80´s up until I moved out of state in 1992. The things I remember most were how he enjoyed life and his generosity to his staff and patients. Always taking time to make us all feel special. On `Adult days´ he would serve mimosas and have a spread of food for his adult patients. (Only adult patients were scheduled). Once a quarter the office would close down at noon and he would take all staff to lunch to celebrate anyone that had a birthday during the quarter. Staff ski weekends in winter and a party barge in the summer. It was always fun to go to work. Such a good guy. I was so sad to hear the news of his passing.

Dr. Youngquist was my orthodontist as well as my family´s for many years. To this day we go to the practice he built. He was always so kind and nice to my family. We can´t forgot the many interactions we had that were full of fun, laughs, and sharing wisdom. He was definitely a bright light. Heaven gained an amazing man.

A bright light left us on July 6 and now a hole is in our hearts but he left us with memories and love. See you on the other side dear cousin.
