Harold Alvin Tech, aged 92, died May 13, 2023, in Colorado Springs, CO. He was with family members when he passed. Mr. Tech retired from the Army Corps. of Engineers after more than 43 years of service. Harold's career highlights include working for the SD Highway department as an Engineer, several minute man missile sites in WY and SD, the VAB Building at Cape Kennedy, FL and Cape Canaveral, The Air Force Academy, CO (hospital and wind tunnels), NORAD - (North American Aerospace Defense Command), CO (blasting tunnels), Ent Air Force Base, CO, Peterson Field, CO, (dental labs; etc.), Ft. Carson, CO (motor pools), (tank trails), (barracks), (ball fields), (hospital), COE CO, as a Construction Representative Inspector for the Army Corps of Engineers. He retired several times and finally found time to do some serious fishing.
Harold enjoyed spending time with his family and took them, fishing, hunting, and on many camping trips. Many of his pastimes included cribbage games and challenges after getting snowed in on hunting trips in WY, fishing trips, and holidays. He built bird houses for a local Golf course, and fixed things.
Mr. Tech served his country and is a Korean War veteran. He saw action 31 times over Korea as a B-29 combat crew member in the 8th Air Force. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 0038 and a life member of the VFW Post No. 3917. Harold also was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association, "Dutch Nelson" Chapter.
Harold is preceded in death by his father Herbert August Tech, mother Mary "Elsie" (Rondfeldt) Tech, infant brother Herman Tech, brother Eldon Amil Tech, twin brother Gerald Irvin Tech, sister Vida Almquist, sister Evelyn Gwyn, and Betty Tech.
He is survived by son, Brian Tech; daughter Barbara Jensen; daughter Brenda McKinney; 5 grandchildren Jennifer; Clay; Jaclyn; Jayme; and Lane. Harold also has great grandchildren; Jodi, Brian, Daniel, Cayden, Precious, Cammi, the twins, Aria and Cassius, Chaimberly, and one on the way.
His ashes will be interred on July 14, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Pikes Peak Veterans cemetery, Colorado Springs, CO.
