John Drew Carver, 63, passed away March 20, 2026, at Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs, Colo., after an extended illness.
Born in Chicago Heights, Ill., in 1962, he moved with his family to Colorado in 1968 and, after graduating from Palmer High School, went on to receive a BA degree from Hardin-Simmons University.
He is survived by his son, Nickolaus Christian Carver; daughter, Emma Claire Gooden and her husband, Jordin Gooden; grandchildren, Walker and Evelyn Gooden; and siblings, Rob Carver, Sue-Ellen Jameson, Leslie Hancock, Mary Beth York, Paul Carver, and Debra Ponder.
He will be remembered for his love of learning and passion for painting. He could often be found browsing books or at work with a brush in hand, sharing that gift with others. His children, Nickolaus and Emma, cherish memories of his time, attention, and encouragement—especially moments spent playing games and learning painting techniques at his side.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westside Cares, 2808 W. Colorado Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80904.
