Hector De La Cruz Obituary

October 8, 1947 - November 25, 2008
Hector fought the good fight, kept the faith, and won. After a 2 1/2 year struggle against cancer, Hector departed this life, and entered into the arms of His loving Father on Tuesday, November 25th. So rejoice, for he walks the streets of gold where this is no more pain or suffering. Hector was a humble, hardworking man, devoted husband, and loving father. He never complained, not even through this trial, and now he has his reward. He will be missed by many. Leaving behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Deborah, and their son, Joshua, also his daughter Monica, son Joseph, mother, Amparo Gutierrez, sister Juanita Munoz, brother Albert Gutierrez, Father-in-law Jim Lewis, who loved him as a son, sisters-in-law Karen Lewis, Kristen Vasquez as well as a host of friends and family. A special thanks goes out to Hector's 302nd Reserve Unit family. Your love and support throughout the years and especially during our time of suffering will never be forgotten. We are grateful beyond words and truly humbled for your generosity. Also, another special thanks goes out to the kind folks at the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center, especially to his oncologist, Dr. Matthew Logsdon, thank you for never letting us give up on hope. Also, thank you to Dr. Logsdon's nurse, Georgia and all of the beautiful nurses in the chemo room, you truly made the difference during our time of struggle. Services will be held at Sunnyside Christian Church 2025 N Murray Blvd. Thursday, December 4th at 11:00 a.m., viewing is at 10:00 a.m. Hector will then be buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery 3698 S Sheridan Blvd. Denver, at 2:30 p.m.

Deborah & Josh, if you need anything please let us know. We do feel for you both.
As you all know Hector was a wonderful person, and a individual I had the privilege to get to know.
I owe many thanks to Hector for all our numerous discussions, his guidance, knowledge, laughs, good times, and yes, the practical jokes.
I truely will miss Hector, as he right up there as one of my all time favorite individuals I have ever met, and we are fortunate to be able to recall all the good memories Hector provided.

I was very fortunate to know Hector the short time I had. He was such a pleasure to work with over the past year. Hector truly was a “Giant of a Man” in his own way and I will always remember him and the first day we met. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

As a co-worker I found Hector to be a fun loving guy and we joked to each other a great deal. He always gave me those mean little eyes when I told people Deb was his daughter. Enjoy your new home and we will joke some more when I get there.

Peace to Hector's family and friends who mourn his passing. The essence of those who are good and kind isn't entirely gone from the world their souls have departed. Their benevolence abides and is exists immortal through the lives they have touched. God bless

Today I pause to reflect upon
how much you've shaped my character, touched our hearts, and taught us true kindness and optimism. The stories and laughter about the similiarities of our family priorities (Deb and I wearing black all year round, salads, our sons, etc) are all treasured memories and were shared with Deb now. Hector, you have made an everlasting impact on so many of us. You will always be remembered and truly missed.

Deb and Josh, may you find comfort as you share your stories and memories of how he lived his life and how very much he meant.
Please know the deep sympathy that we feel for you throughout this difficult time.

Love, Cindy and Dan Lincicome

Hector,
I can't believe you're gone. When I went to visit Debbie, there was a part of me that was hoping you'd return back from a weekend at the Reserves. I remember meeting you for the first time in the garage of my parent's home. I knew then that you'd be the one. You were uncharacteristically shy, you sly dog. Thank you for your irrevocable love to my sister and nephew. You'll be happy to know that she still slaughters me every time we play Skip-Bo. She was trained by the best, after all. Thank you for all of your wise advice, generosity, and laughter. Until we meet again, I love you. You'll be missed, brother.

It was with great sadness to hear of Hector's passing. Hector and Deb are very special people to us and we will miss him so very much. It was truly an honor to be a part of his care. I especially enjoyed making him laugh and sharing stories with he and Deb. God Bless you through your time of sorrow. I miss you Hector.
