Henry Gendreizig Obituary

Lt. Col. (ret.) Henry "Hank" G. Gendreizig, age 93, passed away June 28, 2011 in Colorado Springs. He was born June 17, 1918, in New York City to Alfred and Clara (Steffenhagen) Gendreizig. He attended Ithaca College in New York on a football scholarship, and later graduated from the University of Nebraska, Omaha. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1941. During World War II he was a B-24 pilot, flying numerous missions including the D-Day invasion. He served 25 years in the Air Force, He was an active member of the community, serving on the Red Cross Board and the Air Force Retiree Council. He was a member of Kiwanis and was lieutenant governor of the Rocky Mountain District 1985-86. He belonged to the Order of Dadaelions and he also delivered Meals on Wheels for Silver Key. He and his wife traveled extensively. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Winifred, a son, Lawrence (Shirley) of Lyons, CO, a daughter, Judith Studer of Casper, WY, 2 grandsons, Adam Studer (Nicole) of Ft. Collins, CO, Lucas Studer of Phoenix, AZ and 1 great-granson.
