Jean McGarvey, 90, of Colorado Springs, CO passed into the arms her heavenly father on October 24, 2025. Jean and her loving husband Mac were residents of The Gardens at ViewPointe in Colorado Springs after living in Fountain, CO over 60 years. She was born in Quinwood, WV to Oswald and Virginia Thomas, Jean was the last survivor of nine brothers and sisters. Jean was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all.
Mac and Jean met in Boulder, CO and recently enjoyed their 70th Anniversary Celebration. They had four children, Karen, Dean, Judy and Lorri. Jean loved spending time with family and friends at the mountain cabin they built together. A trip to Cripple Creek to "visit her money" was often in the plans. In their retirement years they were snow birds traveling around the country, taking cruises, and staying in Yuma, AZ. Jean loved to win at Bingo, knit, crochet, sew and make crafts for the grandkids. She volunteered at the Fountain Valley Historical Society Museum.
Jean is survived by loving husband Gene "Mac" McGarvey; daughter Karen Lambert and her husband Raymond Lambert of Colorado Springs, and daughter Lorri McGarvey of Fort Collins, CO; grandchildren Allen Crews, Tommy Crews and his husband Stephen Tafoya, Torrie Jones and her husband Matt Jones, Elizabeth Hughes and her husband Austin Hughes, and Anna Myra; great-grandchildren August Jones, Maisie Jones, and Milo Hughes; and son-in-law Jim Myra. She was predeceased by her son Dean McGarvey and daughter Judy Myra.
A family and friends celebration of life will be held next summer at the family cabin.
