Jack Edwards Obituary

Dr. Jack Edwards passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at his home in Colorado Springs. He was retired from the United States Air Force and was a Dentist. Jack was born July 10, 1932 in Knox City, Texas to the late Dr. R.C. Edwards and Nina Melva (Caulfield) Edwards. Jack graduated from Knox City High School in 1949, and attended the University of Texas in Austin. He graduated from the University of Texas Dental Branch with honors in 1957. He met his future wife Pat Travis there, where she had graduated from Dental Hygiene School in 1958. Jack and Pat were married August 16, 1958 in Bedford, England (they celebrate their anniversary in July) with their children: Jennifer Luke, Nancy Bohanan and Amy Luke – as well as their eleven grandchildren and three sons-in-laws: John Luke, Steven Luke, and Sonny Bohanan. He has one nephew: Ralph Chaney, three nieces and a very loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Robin Kay Meadows, who died in August of 2002; his parents; two brothers: Sam and Bob, and one sister: Mable Chaney. Jack retired from the Air Force as a Colonel in the USAF Dental Corp in 1987 at McConnell AFB, Kansas, in 1987. Jack and Pat returned to their Colorado Springs home to retire again in 1988. Memorial Services with Air Force honors will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel. A reception will follow at the family's home. Memorials may be made to the Evercare Hospice or to the charity of the giver's choice.
