James Cooper Obituary

James Fenimore Cooper, "Coop," was born January 8, 1943, in Sheffield, Alabama to the union of Willie D. Cooper and Alma L. Cooper. He was raised in church, as a child, and later confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior. Mr. Cooper attended school in Detroit, Michigan, and graduated from Central High School in 1961. Shortly after graduation, Mr. Cooper entered the U.S. Air Force. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1981, as a TSGT. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Denver for two years. In 1985, he moved to Colorado Springs and worked at the Cadet Dining Hall at the Air Force Academy. He retired as a dining room supervisor in 2008. Mr. Cooper's hobby was Jazz music. As a DJ, in Denver, he was known as the "Jazz Man" and "Bright Moments." Mr. Cooper passed away in his home on June 28, 2010, of natural causes. He is survived by: Brothers, Pastor Willie D. Cooper, Jr. and wife Dr. Liska Cooper of Detroit Michigan; Paul Cooper of Hawaii, Michael Cooper and wife Theresa Cooper, Marvin Godfrey and fiancé Angie, all of Detroit, Michigan; Aunt, Pauline Williams of Detroit Michigan; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Memorial service, at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 3, 2010, Angelus Funeral Directors, 2535 Airport Road. A memorial service will also be held in Detroit, Michigan at a later day.

I worked at the U.S. Air Force Academy Cadet Dining Hall briefly form late1985 thru 1986. I don't particulary remember "Coop" but it was a great time in me and my families life. The staff who worked there was outstanding and he was a obviously a part of it all. May God Bless his family and all who knew and worked with this man!!.....
