Capt. James William Fore, 86, went to be with our Lord and Savior on April 5, 2011. This celebrated war veteran, doting father, and devoted husband was surrounded by his loving family and friends. He lived a rich and fulfilling life filled with adventure, triumphs and tragedy. James was an American legend in WWII, a B-17 Bomber Pilot, who was captured after his 28th mission and taken to one of Hitler's concentration camps, Buchenwald. He then went on to an aviation career that spanned for more than 44 years and has logged 36,000 flying hours as a distinguished pilot. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Khamla, of Colorado Springs; his son and daughter-in-law, Roche & Brooke Fore of Denver; his son JW Fore Jr, of Denver and his daughter and son-in-law, Lana & Jeffrey Warkocz, of Colorado Springs. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Christopher Fore of Parker, Colorado, Kayla Kirkland-Warkocz of Colorado Springs, RJ Fore of Denver, Jeffrey Warkocz Jr of Colorado Springs and Jennifer Warkocz of Goldsboro, North Carolina . James was also blessed to hold and love his two great-grandchildren, Tyson Paladin Fore and Gracie Mae Irene Fore. Capt. Fore was also survived by a rich and wonderful extended family that he cherished and embraced to include but not limited to, Aree and Bill Duncan, Cinthia and Peter Park, Kimberly Cavaliere, John Parisi, Craig Ellsworth, and Dan Everett; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Connell-Plumb, Nicole Jones and Micah Park. Capt. Fore was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on January 26th, 1925 to James Walter and M. Cecile Fore. He is also survived by his two loving siblings, Charles L. Fore of Russellville, Arkansas and Gladys Ragland of Stuttgart, Arkansas. He is also the beloved uncle of Becky Walker, Nancy Fore and Charles Fore Jr. A memorial service will be held on April 13, 2011, 10am at Garden Ranch Baptist Church, 3830 Van Teylingen Drive, in Colorado Springs. Immediately following the service the family invites you to Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver at 2:30pm for his funeral with military honors. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Honor Flight of Southern Colorado, 6547 N. Academy Blvd, #553, Colorado Springs, CO 80918. He would have wanted to see his fellow comrades receive the trip of their lifetime as they visited the WWII Memorial in Washington DC.

Hello, I am sorry to hear that my friend and my dear brother in Christ has passed, he will be deeply missed. I am sure He is with the LORD. He was such a genuine friend. We live across the street from His best friend another pilot and spent hours and hours in the summers sitting listening to two fine Christian Men and Veteran pilots listening to their stories in awe of their wisdom. Not only that but the genuine character and kindness of Mr. Fore and I appreciated His gifted story telling and kindness that he showed my wife and children to tell stories and always have a word of grace to give. I will dearly miss the stories as we loved to listen. He would light up when talking about life, I would personally sit for hours and listen these veteran pilots talk. I am very sorry for your loss. He was and is forever a wonderful man. He is with the LORD indeed and we will meet again. Thank You Mr. "Jim" Fore for the light you have shown upon my life.
Blessings to your family.
Sincerely,

Brother Jim Fore had an Autobiography published in 1996 called, "Tragedy and Triumph: A Pilot's Life Through War and Peace. By Jim "Paladin" Fore.) Jim told me that he would get me a copy at one time. I saw a couple times since at the neighbors and at stags Cpt Jim was dearly loved by myself and my family and he will be deeply missed.

Respectfully,

David Strang

Tragedy & Triumph: A Pilot's Life Through War & Peace. James "Paladin" Fore & Larry Jacks.
This is the story of Captain Jim Fore's career who logged over 37,000 hours spanning 43 years and 3 wars. Jim graduated from military flight school at 18 years of age, was assigned to the Mighty Eighth Air Force in Europe as a B17 pilot. Jim was shot down on his 28th mission and survived Buchenwald as a POW. After a short period flying in the States, Jim made his way to Shanghai and was hired directly by General Chennault, subject to passing a check ride with Capt. Erik Shilling. Later, Jim was recruited by Dutch Brongersma to fly for BIRD AIR in Laos and suffered the discomfort of being shot down a second time up country in 1963. Later, Jim flew out of S. Vietnam & Thailand before heading up various operations in Africa. Jim has retired to Colorado Springs with his beautiful, globe trotting family.

A great American hero. I was blessed not only to sit and hear the stories of his amazing life, but I was able to also sit with him and my son while my son was able to absorb the great history and patriotism that Jim stood for. His fellow WWII heroes are well represented in his legacy. May God bless and comfort his family.

A man of courage, character and love. You have inspired and honored many simply because of your uncommon character and gracious personality. I'm not sure why I have been so affected by your passing but I am thankful for the opportunity to have met and befriended a man of your stature and faith. I enjoy imagining you gliding through the clouds and with a wave of your hand and a short laugh you turn to navigate your next great adventure.
