I just found out I missed the funeral for JR. This makes me sad. This man touched me deeply as we were in high school and after. Once we ordered a pizza at G's and it took longer than we anticipated and one our coaches walked in (maybe Kintz) and we got in trouble for missing curfew. On another time we drove up to Denver to see the Beachboys. He was a supposed "tough guy" with the man with the gentlest heart I ever knew. It was an honor to know him. Joey Jezek

I worked with Jim for several years after his stroke. I got to know his wonderful family and see how fiercely he was loved. He and Sharon made me feel like an honorary grandchild, and I will never forget their kindness. I will miss him tremendously.

My favorite memory is fishing with JR, Mike and uncle Dan at 11 mile reservoir. I was fly fishing and they were each doing their own thing. It was quiet and peaceful. Long hours but only a couple of fish. Very nice day.
My other memory is being struck by one of my teachers at Saint Mary´s and JR and other cousins coming my rescue.

It was an honor and blessing to have been a friend of Jim Rogers for over 50 years, he lived on the Westside of Colorado Springs his whole life.
Jim Rogers Was A True Westsider.
Jim´s Parents, Danny and Peg Rogers (Both Deceased and Original Owners of Rogers Frontier Bar) helped establish St Patrick´s Day Parade on the westside. Then the parade was moved to downtown Colorado Springs. Along with Jim, his sisters, Patti and Karen, and his brother Mike (Deceased), they were excellent business owners, created events and believe in the westside community (Old Colorado City).
Jim knew many, many folks in Colorado Springs through his employment, involvement with the community and friends he had throughout his life.
Jim loved his wife Sharon, Danny his son, Cherie his daughter, grandchildren, great grandchildren nephews and nieces. He was involved in their lives, he was loving and caring with them. They were his top priority.
Our Condolences,
Terri and Vincent Velasquez
