Janet Gilliana Obituary

Janet L. Gilliana was born August 13, 1962 in Douglas County, Colorado, and passed away February 25, 2014 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Janet was an amazing woman, mother, wife, and friend. She was such humble and noble person to know and be around that no matter what was happening during a situation, she was always very calm and collected. She was always known to be the type of person that would put someone else before herself. She always donated to charities and helped her community in any way possible. She was a very private in person, but was always thoughtful to others needs.

Even as an active police officer for over 25 year with the Colorado Springs Police department, she has been an outstanding member and officer of the community. She touched so many people's lives and also volunteered to help out in teaching other government officials how to better serve the community.

Janet was always honored and awarded for all of her accomplishments. She is a role model to everyone but, most of all her children Beth and Bill Chumbley and Kirk, Shane, and Neal Gilliana. Without a mother like her, they would be lost. She was so strong for them and never let them down as a mother and friend. We love her more than words can say and we want to honor her even more in death because she gave everything to make sure we could live a good life.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 7, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Swan-Law Cascade Chapel - 501 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 10:00 AM, First United Methodist Church - 420 N. Nevada Ave., Colorado Springs. Private inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. ~From a headstone in Ireland
For that amazingly quite nice that seemed to silently come in late to the family reunion to say hello before she had to leave for work.

I remember the days when we were so tired we could barely drive home; so busy we could barely leave work and so blessed to have you in our lives that we can barely say "goodbye". Until we meet again!
