Ardivene Madison, age 91, passed away peacefully in her home with her son Roger by her side. Ardivene was born March 10, 1920 on a farm east of Griswold, Iowa. She was the eldest of two daughters from the late Emil and Dora Bode. Ardivene rode her Shetland pony to a country school through 8th grade and graduated from Griswold High school. She then attended business school in Omaha, Nebraska. She went to work in Guthrie Center, Iowa where she met Arthur Madison; they married, April 7, 1940 in Papillion, Nebraska. They moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where Art worked for the Rock Island Railroad. In the late 40's they moved to Des Moines, Iowa and had two sons, Gary and Roger and Ardivene worked for 3 years as a librarian. In 1967, they moved to Colorado Springs. Ardivene worked for school district 11 for an additional 14 year as a librarian. After 55 years of marriage, Art passed away on March 30, 1994. She then met Hollis Walker, and they were married, April 29, 1995. Ardivene was as unique as her name. She enjoyed many things like traveling, camping, playing cards and dancing. She always had a smile on her face and was a joy to talk with. Ardivene is survived by her husband Hollis Walker, son Roger and grandson Jeff. She is preceded in death by her husband Art, sister; Marcella and son Gary. Ardivene was an amazing mother, wife, grandmother and friend. She lived a wonderful and fulfilled life. She will be remembered for her unfailing compassion, sense of humor, and strength of character. Ardivene was a special lady. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. Visitation, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday October 21, 2011 at Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel, 1830 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday October 22, 2011, St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2111 Carlton Ave., Colorado Springs. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Parkway, Colorado Springs.
