Jean Reldy Obituary

Mr. Jean Reldy, a resident of Colorado Springs for 37 years, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015. He was a successful business owner of a men's fashion import business with offices in the US and Hong Kong.

Jean was born on April 6, 1919 in Paris, France to Elie and Cecile Reldy. He married his wife Georgette on April 5, 1959 in Houston, Texas. They loved each other as much as two people could for 57 years.

As a young man he served in the infantry for the French Army in Indochina. Jean also survived the Japanese occupation of Manila and subsequent Battle of Manila in 1945. Jean became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1953 in Brownsville, Texas.

Jean was also a guest writer for the Cheyenne Edition for over 20 years. A passionate writer, he contributed dozens of columns. He was Chairman of the Board of the Center for Diplomacy and Democracy in Colorado Springs. A founding member of the Hot Club de France, Jean was a Jazz expert. He spoke 5 languages. But mostly, he was a kind and happy man who loved life and his family. His joie de vivre was irrepressible.

He is survived by his wife, Georgette; his daughter, Sandra Steuwer; 3 grandchildren: Ryan Barbera, Rachel Bair, and Nicole Reldy; and 4 great-grandchildren: Madison, Morgan, Sofia, and Jack.

Jean is also fondly remembered by the many close lifelong friends he considered like family.

Inurnment will be private and there will be a remembrance gathering on Saturday, January 2, 2016 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Jean's name may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation http://www.pikespeakhospice.org/
