Jimmy Cooley Sr., age 63, of Cartersville GA, passed away April 3, 2021, in his home from natural causes.
Jimmy Cooley Sr. was born in January 1958 in Cartersville, Georgia. He attended Cartersville City Schools. Where he starred as Cartersville's star basketball athlete. He joined the United States Army in August 1981 and served until August 1989. He earned an honorable discharge after acquiring a medical disability serving his country. Jimmy loved competition, especially basketball. He would spend countless hours teaching, mentoring, and loving his children and grandchildren through the sport of basketball. He was a lover of music, especially Smokey Robinson. Jimmy was a homebody who loves his friends and family above all else.
Jimmy Cooley Sr. is survived by his two sisters Rose Shuman, Jo Ellen Paige, two brothers Calvin Cooley and Robert Lee Jr. (Wolf), three children Mary Cooley, Jimmy Cooley Jr. and Robert Lee Cooley the III, five grandchildren Aaliyah Cooley, Sadie Cooley, Robert Lee Cooley IV, Bella Cooley, Braylon Cooley, and KayliAna Brienne Cooley. He was preceded in death by his parents Mary Francis and Robert Lee Cooley and his brother Sammy Cooley and sister Regina Gamble (Lopy).
The visitation will be held at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, April 19, 2021, at 10 a.m. Following the visitation, a private burial service for family and close friends will take place at Pikes Peak National Cemetery.
