Our loving Mother Joan, born on a farm in Morris, West Virginia, to parents Averel and Martha Rapp, passed after a short, but fiercely fought battle with AML.
She married her 1st grade sweetheart, and love of her life, Roma (Bud). Married for 56 years, she courageously carried on after his death in 2012. She was an amazing, positive, smart, strong, beautiful, talented lady who loved her rose bushes, gladiolus, the sound of the wind, bunnies, Elvis, all sports, especially football and hockey, and gambling at Cripple Creek. Mom never met a stranger, and has many close friends that will dearly miss her.
She is survived by her children; Randy, Carla, and Roger (Cindy).
7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was the Matriarch of a huge family tribe she loved, and was loved by us all. She had a wonderful life, and she lived it with grace, love, humor, balance, and wisdom gained from experience.
For those of you who knew our mother, you know how wonderful she was. For those who did not know her, I'm sorry, you missed out. You can find her in the laughter, smiles, hearts, and faces of her children, family, and friends. Her loving memory will always remain. A witty joke at the dinner table or a big laugh over something rather small. Mom, Thank you for the constant encouragement, praises to us all, and always being proud of the family and what you helped us become. Thanks for all you have done. Love always~
No services are planned at this time. At a later date, Mom and Dad will rest, side by side, at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs. In Lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Wounded Warriors, or your favorite charity in her name.
