Roseanne..I came across this memorial page for John Alex when I was sharing his music with someone on youtube. I had learned of his passing shortly after it occurred and I know some years have passed but I wanted to say I am so very sorry for your and your families loss. I think of you often and hope you are well.

Remembering John-Alex and his Family....
June 28, 2013
A truly special person is gone from his family, friends and admirers. Bless his family with strong comfort. I saw him perform for the first time at George Fox College(Oregon) and the setting created a magical evening hearing the gift of his voice and talent. Thoughts of this evening will not be forgotten with John-Alex.

Some of my fondest days were spending each and every day with John playing in the sand box as little kids. John reached out to me a few years back and was so great to hear all that he had accomplished. To the entire Mason family my thoughts will always be with you. John was a truly amazing friend and person.
Our dear boy.

We miss you, down-home boy.
A wonderful human being and a great talent.
When you were born you cried and the world rejoiced.

And you did do that John.

To the family,
I weep for your sudden and devastating loss. John-Alex lived more life in his 35 years than most people do in double the lifetime, but it is still unfair that he was taken away too soon. He gave his fans tremendous joy by sharing his musical gifts. He leaves a legacy for his family, friends and Colorado Springs and his spirit lives on. We are grateful for that but it does not lessen our great sadness. May you find some comfort in the belief that there is a heaven and he is there sending his love to you and receiving yours in return.

This is such a huge loss to the blues world. I couldn't count how many times I had the pleasure of catching performances here, in Telluride, in Clarksdale, Helena. Such a wickedly talented yet gentle, sweet and sincere soul. Rest well my friend.
My heartfelt condolences to your family. Godspeed.

I first saw John with his parents at a little place in downtown Colorado Springs. He was an inspiration that night and the passion in his eyes was easy to see. His mother and father beamed with love and pride for their son. May God hold you in the palm of his John and may you jam in heaven!

Not sure where we first saw John Alex but more than likely it was at Jimbo's Take 2. I remember he played there the day after his daughter was born. He will be missed. What I really loved was when he took a group of teenagers to meet the old blues artists in the south to educate them about the blues. My heartfelt sympathy to all of John Alex's family.

The first time I saw John Alex was at Hillside Gardens on a summer eve. I was so captivated by his presence and spellbound by his performance. All I could do was smile and laugh during the entire evening. He forever will be amazing.
