John Braman Obituary

John Charles Braman was born June 14, 1921 and died at the age of 92 on December 22, 2013. He was the eldest of two children of Howard Braman and Carrie Bechen; he was preceded in death by his brother James Braman. He was married over 50 years to Dorothy Mitchell who passed in 2001.

John is survived by his daughter, Levya (Leslie) A. Braman, two grandsons, Lee and Luke Maulsby and three great grandchildren. Levya currently resides in Johnstown, CO. with her husband Walt A. Sanchez.

John attended Stadium High School in Tacoma, WA; as a youth he was an Eagle Scout and an able-bodied seaman for the Sea Scouts. While attending the University of Washington he was in ROTC, lettered in wrestling and was on the debate team. During WWII John served as an Army Captain Paratrooper and attorney in Japan.

John was an attorney for Boeing in WA and then moved his family to CA where he worked for Bechtel Corporation for over 20 years. He remained a member of the Washington Athletic Club in Seattle for over 50 years and in Toastmasters many years. When he retired, he and Dottie moved from their home in Marin County to live in Colorado Springs for over 25 years.

John led an active life and enjoyed skiing, playing tennis, and travel. He enjoyed the arts and education.

Remembrances in John's name may be made to the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center.

Memorial services will be held at Mile Hi Church, Fred Vogt Chapel, 9077 W. Alameda Ave., Lakewood, CO on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at 4pm. A reception will follow.
