John McGrath Obituary

Jack passed away Friday, October 7, 2016, at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was 68. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.



Jack was born in New York, New York. He was the son of John D. and Rosemary (Dunn) McGrath, Sr.



Jack first came to Colorado in 1969 stationed at Ft. Carson. After two years of service there, he served six months in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge, Jack returned to Colorado Springs where he lived until his passing.



Amongst Jack's many accomplishments was that he was the owner of J.D. McGrath Construction Company, the past president of El Paso County Contractors Association, a member of IBEW, and, most recently, he was Construction Inspector at the United States Air Force Academy.



Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Sali; daughter, Jenny (Scott Gillies); son, Jason (Ilse Wagner); and step-sons, John Naylor and Fred Winther (Kathryn).



Jack was "Opa" to precious grandchildren, Evan, Oliver, Mila, Kayleigh and Hannah; step-grandson, Freddy; and step-grandaughter, Jesse. He is also survived by his sister, Kathleen (Tom Dowd); brother, Steve (MaryJane) McGrath; many nieces and nephews; countless cousins; and a multitude of friends.
