JON OBED SUNDE
1955 - 2018
Jon passed away at home surrounded by his family and friends after a long battle with cancer. He wasn't afraid to die; he just didn't want to leave us. He was born to Obed and Jane Sunde in Dubuque, Iowa. He lived in Hawaii, and Arizona, but had resided in Colorado Springs for the last 50 years, He was a PK (Preacher's Kid). He graduated from Wasson High School in 1973, and married his high school sweetheart, with whom he raised two amazing children. He was a jack-of-all trades, and a master drywaller. He was lucky in life and in Cripple Creek. Jon was a connoisseur of Rock and Roll, the Blues, and could play any musical instrument he wanted. He could kick your butt in any board or card game; he loved traveling, crossword puzzles, crib-bage, golfing, Coors Light, chocolate sundaes, a good steak, and his Minnesota Vikings. He is preceded in death by his father Obed and his brother Ted. He is survived by his wife Rhonda, daughter Aleksandra, her husband Gabriel; his son Nikolas,his wife Esther, the light of his life granddaughter Laila; his mother Jane, sister Nancy; sister Amy and her husband Jeff; brother Dan; and many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends, who were an extended family to Jon. Heaven welcomed him on the Winter Solstice with a full moon and a meteor shower. Until we meet again my love........

What a wonderful family...I remember them all so fondly from the time Pastor Obed Sunde served at Ascension Lutheran Church when I was in junior high school. They were so special and beautiful and I am very sorry for the losses you all have endured. Fond memories...

So sorry to hear of Jon's passing. I saw him soon after Obed died and he was so happy and talkative. I will keep you and your family in my prayers, Rhonda. I talked with Amy and Jane after reading Jon had died. I am a former member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.
