Joseph Clement Obituary

Clement
Joseph John Clement
February 11, 1945
June 30, 2024

Joseph John Clement, age 79, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away June 30th, 2024, at home in the care of his family. Joe is survived by his three sons, Joseph J. Clement II, Anthony Clement (Brooke), Nicholas Clement (Sara) and his six grandchildren; Trace, Kennedy, Thomas, Emilia, Samuel and Hudson. Joe is also survived by his only sister Arlene Larry, sister's-in-law Taffy Arey and Tracey Littlepage, nephews Mark Larry, Christopher Larry, Michael Larry, Thomas Arey, John Littlepage, Jacob Littlepage and niece, Tally Schieber.
Joe was born in Jamestown, New York on February 11th,1945 and spent his early childhood on his family's grape and dairy farm in Westfield NY. At the age of nine Joe and his family moved to the Buffalo, NY area where he attended North Tonawanda High School and graduated in 1963. Following High School, Joe attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL where he ran track and was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He graduated in 1968 with a Bachelors in Education followed by a Masters from Bradley University.
Shortly after graduation in 1971, Joe went on a Spring Break trip to Fort Lauderdale, FL where he met the love of his life, Tana Traube. After a whirlwind courtship of 4 months Joe and Tana married on August 14th, 1971 and settled in Peoria, Illinois, where Joe began work as a high school teacher, coach and eventually in education administration as Dean of Boys at Richwoods High School.
In 1980 Joe took a leap of faith by beginning a new career as an Associate Broker and then eventually Broker Owner of RE/MAX Realtors in downtown Peoria. This career change would change the course of his life, his family's life and that of so many people he would encounter over the next nearly 50 years he was in the real estate business. In 1986 he took yet another leap and relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado with Tana and their three boys and purchased a RE/MAX Franchise, RE/MAX Properties, Inc., which would become his greatest professional passion and joy as he built the business, becoming one of the most trailblazing and visionary Broker Owners in the RE/MAX Network. Joe was well known for his characteristic perseverance, optimism, and for always offering his own experience through teaching and coaching to help other broker owners and agents. Joe was widely connected to the RE/MAX Network, making so many life-long friends with his colleagues nationwide and with his agents, staff and clients locally. He had an endless passion for helping others succeed in the business, as well as helping his many clients find the perfect home in a city that he deeply loved. He was tireless and Joe loved everything about working in the real estate industry, most notably the relationships he built over his many years.
As passionate as Joe was about his career in real estate he was even more so about his family. Joe took immense pride in his three sons, all of whom have followed in his footsteps; Joey practicing real estate for 20 years in California, Tony who has worked alongside Joe in Colorado Springs as Co-Broker Owner of RE/MAX Properties, Inc. and more recently his youngest son Nicholas working along-side him as his sales partner. He wanted nothing more than to share his passion for the industry with his sons and Joe beamed about his boys and six grandchildren. There was no greater joy to an Italian family man and the void he has left feels vast to his family who will miss him dearly.
Joe is preceded in death by his wife Tana, his parents Joseph & Laura Clement, his brother-in-law John Larry and a number of dear friends and extended family for which we are grateful he is reunited.
A celebration of Joe's life will be held at the Lloyd Shaw Auditorium, Cheyenne Mountain High School 1200 Cresta Rd., Colorado Springs, CO 80906, Saturday July 13th at 10:00am with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that anyone inclined to make donations to please donate in Joe's name to Children's Miracle Network or The Tradition of Excellence Foundation.

Had many interactions with Joe and admired him for his toughness, but fairness. When Re/Max became a thing in our industry many of us wondered how it would fare. Joe built it and made it a dominant force. He was always willing to share advice with me, as well as ask for it. A true icon and his sons are a testament to his family commitment. Ci vediamo dopo, Joe!

As a fellow Re/max broker owner at the Lake of the Ozarks I got to know Joe very well. Often we would meet at Broker meetings and share ideas. I learned so much from him as did so many others. Miss you my friend.

Joe was a big personality and a pleasure to be around and learn from. He seemed to always have a positive attitude and would light up the room with his presence. I am fortunate to have been able to spend a good amount of time with Joe and his family, usually at a RE/MAX event or on a golf course. I can't remember a time I didn't have a great time with "Uncle Joe". And while I'm sad I won't get to create more memories with him, I truly cherish the ones we did create. My sincerest condolences go to Joey, Tony, Nick and the rest of Clement family.

My condolences to the Clement family. Joe, Tony and Nick. The Joe Clement family and my family moved to Colorado Springs around the same year. Joe and I met and started a working relationship. Joe has had my firm to provide land surveying services and we are great full for his confidence. We both have boys with similar names Joe and Tony. Our boys all attended school together at Cheyenne Mountain.
Joe was definitely a pioneer in Colorado Springs real estate services. His company provided home ownership for many families.
Joe will be missed, although his legacy will be an inspiration for his boys and his fellow agents.

Joe had a way of communicating that compelled people to listen. He also had a knack for truly hearing what other people had to say. He helped me through some tumultuous times like a dad and always encouraged me. I´m grateful to have known him, worked with him, and to be a part of his journey. Thanks Joe! R.I.P.

Joe has been my friend since 1986. I have always admired his work ethics, his positive attitude, and generosity to his agents, including me. Over the years Joe and I have remained friends and for that I am so grateful. Joe was always so proud of his boys and he knew they would continue what he started. He loved his family and his eyes would light up when talking about them. I will miss my dear friend but will always keep him in my heart and memories. Joe is now with his Tana, I know how much he missed her.

I remember when I told Joe had to quit and get a real job. He said I'll loan you money, don't do it, stay. I said no I don't want your money. I stayed and I'm glad I did. A truly great man. I love. DEE HOWARD
