Justiniana Delumpa Obituary

A Life of Faith, Love, and Courage. Justiniana Munez Delumpa, also known to friends and family as "Mama Josie", passed away on June 23, 2006 at age 94 in Colorado Springs, CO. She was born in the Philippines on September 5, 1911, to Santiago Munez and Caridad Togado. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester and an infant son, Victor. A gentle woman of courage and faith, she exemplified creativity, resourcefulness, and love. She shared her great sense of humor, prayed often, and kept physically strong, practicing and teaching yoga well in to her eighties. She loved her travels throughout Europe and the Middle East. She made pilgrimages to Lourdes, Assisi, Fatima, and Jerusalem, and met Pope John Paul II in Rome. Mama Josie is survived by her seven children, Felix M. Delumpa and Sally M. Barinque of Colorado; William M. Delumpa, California; Maiah D. Scalise and Kathy D. Allegri, Oregon; Julie D. Mariano, Singapore; and Lori D. Foster of Maine. She was blessed with 29 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. In Colorado Springs, CO, recitation of the Rosary and Mass of Celebration will be at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 with visitation forty-five minutes prior at St. Joseph Catholic Church Southgate, 1830 S. Corona Ave., 80906. She will be laid to rest with her beloved Lester at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, CA, following the Rosary and Mass of Celebration at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 582 Hope St. Mountain View, CA 94041. Time and date to be announced. The Delumpa family wishes to thank the staff at the Medalion Health Center for the excellent care and support Mama Josie received as a resident there for nearly three years.
