Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Kathleen "Elaine" Hoder, died on May 5, 2024 surrounded by family. She was 78. Born December 18, 1945 in Southern California she met the love of her life and was married immediately following graduation from high school. She was an amazing military wife who exceled at taking care of her family, packing up and moving when the government ordered it (33 times) and being a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was a crafter and baker and relished being a housewife. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Mary Lorna Hawk, and her husband, Sidney Hoder. Elaine was devoted to her family and leaves behind her three daughters Trouble O'Hara (Eric), Collette Finley and Laura Shughart (Marv) all of Colorado Springs. Her grandchildren - Cydney Faith, Morgan Hoder-Smith (Matty), Nicole Caduff, Cassandra Gromala (Drew), Cailtin Dormagen (Matthew), Robert Lindquist, Sebastien Waller (Ti'esha), Madelynn Reeves (Kyle), Nicholas Waller, Orion Waller, Makayla Esquival (Jason), Piper Hoder-Wiley (Carlton), Chance Waller and Juan Hoder. Her great-grandchildren - Brendon Caduff, Jameson Reeves, Shiloh Gromala, Abigail Smith, La'Raia Wiley, Elijah Jack Wiley and Araceli Esquival. She is also survived by her sisters, Patricia Gale Reeves and Lorna Van Orden, and her brother Robert Hawk (Brenda.) She was the heart and soul of our family and was so loved, she will be dearly missed. At Elaine's request, there will be no services, but before she passed she made it known she wanted us all to share a laugh and raise a shot of Irish Whiskey in celebration of her journey home to reunite with her soulmate, Sid. "Those we love don't go away, They walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, Still loved, still missed and very dear."

We shared so much, especially after that memorable trip to Alaska. You and Sid were the nicest, most forgiving, most loving people I have ever known. I miss you even more now.

My earliest memory of Elaine was when they brought her home from the hospital. It was 1945; we were living and Grandma O´Hara´s house on Benton Place in San Diego. I was the first grandchild, very petted and spoiled by my Aunt Marilyn and her brothers, and I´d been given a doll buggy. I thought Mom had brought me a baby doll!
