Kenneth Hazlett Obituary

“Ken� or “Kenneth�, 61, of Colorado Springs, CO died suddenly at his home in Colorado Springs on 14 September. Ken, a Colorado Native and 1965 graduate of Roy J. Wasson High School, lived all but 10 years of his life in Colorado Springs or Woodland Park. Ken was a well known artisan, jeweler, and General Contractor in the Pikes Peak region where many of his creations remain. A consummate mentor, many carpenters and those in the construction field owe their tradecraft to his tutelage. Ken was an avid outdoorsman and loved nothing more than to camp in Spruce Grove with his wife and family, fish the South Platte River and Tarryall Reservoir and hunt the fields of Lucas Kansas with his son and friends Pineapple and Doc; always with his ever faithful Golden Retriever Doc at his side. Ken leaves behind his loving wife Diana, of 18 years, his son Lieutenant Commander Tod Alan Hazlett of Washington, D.C., his daughter Christa Noel Hazlett-Silvers of Colorado Springs, his step-daughters Melissa Hartsfield - Smith of Olathe, KS, Kimberly Hartsfield - Morgan of Hull, GA, 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many relatives and friends who loved him very much. A “gathering� was held on 17 September to remember Ken the husband, the father, the ex-husband, the artisan, the craftsman, and friend. Ken's remains were cast per his wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a cash donation be made in the name of Ken Hazlett to the Childrens Ark at 301-684-8001. Goodbye pop, we love you and hope the fish are biting.
