Kyle Walther Obituary

Kyle C. Walther, age 41, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1977 and formerly of Manitou Springs, Colorado and Sheboygan, Wisconsin passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2010 after a 3 month battle with melanoma. He was a Park Maintenance Technician for the City of Colorado Springs Department of Parks and Recreation. Kyle Christian Walther was born on October 13, 1968 in Sheboygan to Richard M. and Artiss R. (Saucier) Walther. He was a 1986 graduate of Manitou Springs High School and then graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Kyle loved music, hiking, the great outdoors, and especially loved animals. He was known to have rescued many small animals in the city's parks and will be best remembered for his conscientious work ethic and dedication to his field. He loved people and was a good friend to many. He is survived by his loving parents of Colorado Springs; his brother: Aaron Walther of Sedalia, Missouri and his nephew: Justin Walther and his niece: Kayleigh Walther, both of Lubbock, Texas. Kyle is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: George and Louise Walther, and Wilbur and Alice Saucier, and a cousin: John Walther. A visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at the Shrine of Remembrance Chapel. The Holy Rosary will be said at 7:00 pm in the Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for 10:00 am on Friday at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 6455 Brook Park Drive in Colorado Springs. Entombment will follow at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Gate of Heaven. A reception will then take place at St. Patrick's Fellowship Hall. His family would like to thank the nurses of the oncology department of Memorial Central and the staff of Pikes Peak Hospice for their wonderful care during this difficult time. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, 610 Abbott Lane, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80905 or to the American Cancer Society, 1445 N. Union Boulevard, Suite B100, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909. Blessed be his memory.

I worked with Kyle at Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services. He was known for his detail and dedication to his work. It was such a shock when I heard of your loss yesterday; it was hard to believe. May your hearts soon be filled with fond memories of the times you shared with him. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
