Leonard Walter Zabor, passed away on August 18, 2024 at the age of ninety-seven. Born on October 10, 1926, Leonard lived a full and colorful life, defined by his love for his family, his service for his country, his passion for art and his faith. Leonard was reunited in heaven with his beloved wife Dolores who passed away earlier this year. Together, they shared a lifetime of memories raising a family of seven children. Leonard was the proud father of Leonard E. (Betty) Zabor, Kelly (Jim) Vinson, Pam Zabor, Jeff Zabor, Monette (Alan) Krivanek, and the late Mike Zabor (1994) and infant Monique Zabor (1961). He was a loving grandfather to nine grandcildren and a great-grandfather to seven, with his grandson Jimbo Vinson(1998) already waiting for him on the other side. Leonard's journey was nothing short of remarkable. He joined the Navy during WWII, celebrating his 17th birthday on the shores of Okinowa. After the war, he returned home and studied at the Art Insitute of Chicago before re-enlisting with the Airforce. It was during this chapter of his life, while stationed in Colorado Springs, that he met Dolores, and together they built a home together and was married two weeks shy of seventy years. Leonard was a humble and hardworking man who wore many hats over the years, but his passion was painting. His home was his canvas; every wall, door, and surface was a testament to his creativity. Leonard's art was everywhere, from landscapes, to abstract designs, brightening his home and reflecting his colorful personality. Each piece told a story of his love for life and Dolores. His artwork made thier house feel like a home. Though he could be a man of few words, Leonard's wit kept his family on thier toes. Small in stature but big in heart he was a joy to be around. He loved plaing horseshoes in the backyard, shooting pool in the basement and gathering around the kitchen table for a game of cards and dominoes. He was devoted to Dolores whom he loved and loved his family deeply. He was a man of faith and a steady presence. Leonard's legacy is one of love, family and art, He taught his family the value of hard work, the joy of creativity and the importance of being there for each other. he leaves behind a family who will forever cherish the memories they made together, the art that brightened their days and the lessons they learned from a man who gave them his all. Leonard's family finds comfort in knowing he is united with the love of his life, Dolores, probably painting skies and sharing stories. he will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

I'm sorry to hear of the passing of Leonard and your mother. I had the honor of caring for them when I worked at The Retreat, and had many conversations with them when they couldn't sleep at night, and Mr Leonard was up eating his cereal. Lol. I even changed my decor in one of my rooms to peas and carrots. They will be greatly missed.

I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your father and mother (earlier this year). Your mother was a first cousin to my dad, Elipio Duran. They used to visit with my parents and play cards together.
