February 11, 2022

Leslie Ruth Hudson Fife, 64, passed away February 11, 2022 at her home in Colorado Springs after a long struggle with metastatic breast cancer. She is survived by her husband Bruce, her three sons, Michael, James and Christopher, seven grandchildren, and her sisters Penny Hudson and Rebecca Kochenderfer.

Her funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 4955 Meadowland Blvd at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 22, with a viewing from 10:30 to 11:00 am.

Leslie was born in Sacramento, California on August 14, 1957. At the age of 12 both of her parents died of natural causes just one month apart. Along with her younger sister, Rebecca, she spent most of her teenage years living with her aunt and uncle Dorothy and Ed Correia. By the time she graduated from high school she had began working as a licensed cosmetologist.

She met her future husband, Bruce Fife, while she was a senior in high school. The couple were married in Oakland, California on June 5, 1976, just a few months after her graduation from high school. They moved to Utah, where Bruce pursued a degree in Geology. Later, they moved to Texas where her husband studied for a Master's Degree and later worked for Phillips Petroleum Company. During this time the couple had three children—all energetic boys, which kept her very busy.

In 1988 she and her family moved to Colorado Springs. While in Colorado, Leslie developed an interest in health care and became a licensed massage therapist. She had, as many of her clients could attest, a god-given talent as a therapist and helped ease the pain and discomfort of many who sought her help. She continued to improve her skills and knowledge by learning many different styles and forms of bodywork.

Leslie will always be remembered for her cheerful demeanor and exuberant energy that brought smiles and good cheer to all of those she met. She was very outgoing and would often walk up to total strangers to compliment them on their clothes, appearance, or some task or accomplishment they had achieved. Her spontaneous good nature and kind words often lifted the spirits of those who, unknown to her, were depressed or feeling sad.

Although she was a licensed cosmetologist and massage therapist and was employed for short periods of time in variety of other jobs, she spent much of her time as a homemaker—the job she enjoyed the most. She perfected the art of bread making and was an accomplished seamstress. The vast majority of her sewing and craftwork was given away to family, friends, and acquaintances. At one time, she spent months making dozens of baby quilts, which were donated to orphaned or otherwise disadvantaged young children.

She will be greatly missed by all of those who had the good fortune to know her.

I´m a year late finding out this sad news. Leslie & I corresponded often about a decade ago after reading Dr Fifes book on coconut oil.
She decided to close her site on Facebook and we lost touch. She was a very kind woman.
