Lisa Michell Thayne (Hebrlee)
1965 - February 28, 2025
Lisa Michell Thayne, née Hebrlee, passed away on February 28, 2025, at the age of 59. Born in Garden City, Kansas, in 1965 to Edward Hebrlee and Janice Craig, Lisa's life was defined by her boundless compassion, resilience, and love for those around her.
From an early age, Lisa shared countless adventures with her brothers, Trent and Craig Hebrlee. She had a deep love for her grandparents, Virgil and Avril Craig and Lee and Ruth Hebrlee, whose values and warmth shaped her spirit. She graduated from Garden City High School and, in 1986, embarked on a new chapter when she met her first husband, John, and moved to Colorado Springs. There, she built a life surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of Pikes Peak, a place she adored—especially the West Side. As a true Westsider, she always considered this home.
In 1989, Lisa earned her cosmetology license from the International Beauty College of Colorado Springs, showcasing her passion for creativity and connection. While raising her first three sons, Kevin Licano, Kaleb Licano, and Thomas Licano, she worked tirelessly to provide for them while also pursuing higher education. In 2000, she achieved a bachelor's degree in Sociology and Criminology from the University of Pueblo, a testament to her perseverance and love for learning.
Lisa's heart was open to all. Her cheerful nature, deep empathy, and love for celebration made her a friend to many. She embraced people from all walks of life without judgment, always eager to hear their stories and offer support. A talented cook, Lisa could transform the simplest ingredients into a comforting meal, with Mexican cuisine being her specialty.
Later in life, Lisa found love again with her second husband, Manuel, and together they welcomed their son, Dominick Thayne. Their journey was filled with adventure, laughter, and shared moments of joy. Lisa's love for 70s rock, particularly the Eagles, provided the soundtrack to her free-spirited life.
Above all, Lisa was immensely proud of her sons, always seeing the best in them and championing their strengths. She found endless joy in her role as a grandmother to Lily and Rosie (Kevin's daughters) and Avi and Hazel (Dominick's daughters), cherishing every moment spent with them.
Lisa's strong will, kind heart, and unwavering love leave a lasting imprint on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held at a later date
