Lois Deyo Obituary

Deyo
Lois Jean
Deyo
June 2, 1941
October 1, 2025

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away from pancreatic cancer on October 1, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was 84 years old.
Born on June 2,1941 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Lois gave her heart to Jesus at age ten. She and her two sisters had a wonderful childhood raised by her parents, Roy and Cleo Staub. Lois attended Taylor University where she majored in vocal music and met and married Art Deyo. She was a very nurturing stayat-home mom for their two children, Deanna and Jeff. Later she sought an education degree and graduated summa cum laude from Metropolitan State College in Denver, with a special passion for helping students with learning differences.
Her Patience, compassion, and creativity left a lasting impact on the countless young lives she touched. Many students reflected that she was the best teacher they ever had
Lois assisted her husband, Dr. Art Deyo, in his Youth for Christ International ministry of 61 years, visiting, assisting with correspondence and hosting guests. Later with Art, she visited, advised, and counseled missionaries and nationals in dozens of countries. Her love and prayers were so encouraging and helpful for those with whom she was entrusted.
Lois was a woman of many talents and joys. She loved playing games, and hiking - even climbed seventeen 14'ers. She sewed many beautiful creations for family and others, filling her home with the warmth of her cooking and caring. She and Art actively led small groups and taught in their churches, for she deeply loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and shared Him with others. Two years ago Lois and Art moved into MacKenzie Place in Colorado Springs where people saw firsthand what a "bright light" and how she "literally shined for Jesus." Above all, she treasured time spent with friends and family, creating memories marked by laughter, kindness, generosity, and connection.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Arthur Deyo; her daughter Deanna (Tim Smith) and son Jeff (Martha) Deyo; her sisters, Judy Frazier and Betty Murph; her grandchildren Luke (Elise) and Levi Smith; Roman (Leah), Evan, Channing, and Clara Deyo; and her great-grandchildren Ryker and Jayce. Lois's legacy lives on in each of them, in the lessons she taught and the love she so freely gave.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 14, 2:00 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 219 E. Bijou St., Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages those who wish to honor Lois's memory to donate to their Youth for Christ account, 95044, PO Box 550, Parker CO 80134, or by extending kindness to youth in need.
