Peggy Atherton, 84, of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away May 6, 2023.
Peggy was born Margaret Karen Atherton in Buffalo, New York July 5th 1938. She graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy in 1956. She went to work at the telephone company in Buffalo then settled down in the Black Rock, Riverside area to start her family, moving to Alden, N.Y., where she worked for Peterson Drug Store for 18 years. Peggy began her next chapter in life moving to Colorado Springs, CO, in 1992, working nearly 25 years at the Broadmoor Hotel, before retiring in Colorado Springs. Her catch-phrase at the Broadmoor shops was, "You should have it!"
Peggy always had a genuine smile and wonderful stories to tell. She was a loving mother of Karen (Jim) Capers, Bill Atherton, Daniel (Carolyn) Atherton, and Stephen (Xue) Atherton; loving grandmother of Derek Kidder, Brian, Nathaniel, Justin, Kevin Atherton, Lauren (Jason) Jackson and Margaret Atherton; great grandmother of Jason Jackson; sister of Matthew Robert "Bobby" Katrein; survived by nieces and nephews. Private services will be held at a future date. Arrangements by JAMES E. GRACE FUNERAL HOME, INC.
