Mark Estock Obituary

Mark A. Estock, 53, of North Kingsville, Ohio, passed away Tuesday evening, November 5, 2013 at UH Conneaut Medical Center, following a courageous three-year battle with cancer. He was born August 12, 1960 in Charleroi, Pennsylvania and was the son of Joseph and Joy (Fuller) Estock, Jr., of Ashtabula, Ohio.

Mark graduated from Conneaut High School in 1978. He went on to graduate with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Akron, and was the owner, president, and C.E.O. of the family business, Creative Millwork of Ohio, for seven years and had been a key figure in the company for the past 25 years.

He was a member of Mount Carmel Church in Our Lady of Peace Parish in Ashtabula, Ohio, and was a proud and dedicated board member for the Buckeye Local School District over the past eight years, serving as president at the time of his passing. Mark was also a past president of the Buckeye Band Boosters, where he notably led the effort in bringing in several musicians to Edgewood High School; including Maynard Ferguson, Count Basie, and the Glen Miller Orchestra. His family plans to create a scholarship fund in his memory for Edgewood High School graduates.

Mark had his pilot's license and was an avid sailor, competing in local and national level races. He is credited for bringing the Force 5 national sailboat race to Ashtabula County. Mark loved fishing and spending time on Lake Erie, as he was a member of the Ashtabula Yacht Club. He participated for many years in the Northeast Ohio Soap Box Derby. Mark enjoyed building soap box cars with his boys and donated cars to other families so they could share in the experience. He was heavily involved in Boy Scouts of America, in which he had served as pack leader while his boys participated. Most importantly, Mark was known for being an inspiration in his sons' lives and supporting them in all they did.

Survivors include his parents; his wife, Cindy (Mansfield) Estock, whom he married September 1, 1984; his sons, Brian and fiancée, Brittany Becks of Madison, Ohio, Scott and Jamie of North Kingsville, and Christopher, Matthew, and Andrew, all of North Kingsville; his sisters, Beth Ann Estock and her husband, Jeff Petrillo of Portland, Ore., and Marie Estock and her husband, DJ Merrill of Topsham, Maine; his grandmother, Ann Estock of Erie, Pa.; and his mother-in-law, Joyce Mansfield of North Kingsville.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Joseph Estock, Sr.; his grandfather and grandmother, R.A. and Marie (Flynn) Fuller; and his father-in-law, Ray E. Mansfield.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m., Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Mount Carmel Church in Our Lady of Peace Parish, 1200 East 21st St., Ashtabula, Ohio, with Father Raymond Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio.

Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2013, at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio.

Contributions may be made to Buckeye Band Boosters or NEO Soap Box Derby. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and at the church.
