I was a student of Marty's in 2001, I believe. His teaching style was so accommodating and engaging. His enthusiasm for math was infectious.

I learned more about math from him than any other math teacher. He broke math down in such a way, that I found myself getting excited about the next lesson. He always encouraged questions and never tired of explaining concepts in several different ways. He delighted in seeing the "light bulb" come on in his students' eyes.

He has been on my mind for several years. I tutored math (student tutor) at CTU because of him, and did my best to copy his style.

I Googled him because I wanted to see if he was still on the faculty. I wanted to thank him. I had a bad feeling in my gut when I didn't see his name.
I want his family to know that it hurts my heart to see he is no longer with us. He was surely something special.

Marty made life in math doable, aproachable, and some what enjoyable.
I truly enjoyed having him as an instructor and motivator. Where ever you are "Marty", give them what for on the spiritual plain. You have earned your wings at this level I'm sure, and the best is yet to come. To your family, my prayers are with you... and to you Marty... I'm sure you passed with flying colors, a final salute, and God speed for now... (CTU Student)

Marty will be greatly missed. I was not only a co-worker but a student whose life he touched. If it wasn't for Marty's amazing way of teaching math, I would of never made it through it! I am so grateful I knew Marty, and his family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Jane, Ashely, Bryan and John,
I was very sorry to hear of your recent loss. I know what you are going through(especially Ashley, Bryan and John) as I have gone through the same thing. My dad passed away on December 26, 2007 and my mom passed away June 2, 2009. My prayers are with you at this time and will continue to be. It is a comfort to know that he is with the Lord and we will see him again one day. May you rely on God for your comfort and strength in the days to come. May you always remember all the good things he did.
Weeping endures for the night but joy comes in the morning.
With deepest sympathy,
Linda Rutland (Gary David's aunt)

Prof. Marty Hodges was a huge blessing to the teaching profession. I am one of his current students and despite of the fact that I had just met him a few months ago, I consider him one of the best teachers I've ever encountered. He is greatly missed and the class isn't the same without him. I hope to continue learning from him when I too reach the other side. May the Lord bring comfort into the hearts of the Hodges' family swiftly.

I would like to extend my condolences to Marty's family. I was one of Marty's students at CTU last year. He always made class fun and interesting. I looked forward to attending his class each week. He was a wonderful person and will be sorely missed. I feel priviledged to have been one of his many students.

Marty was the best college professor I had the privilege of knowing. A very sensitive person and the quintessential teacher. He will be missed.

Mr Hodges was the best Math teacher I ever had. He helped me get over my lack of confidence in my math abilities. Because of him I finished Deffe Q!
