Mary Orr Obituary

Mary Jean Orr was born Mary Jean Terry in Newkirk, Oklahoma, on September 25, 1921. During the dust bowl days her family migrated to Long Beach, California, where she graduated from high school. She met Raymond on a bus bench on her way to church. She invited him as a guest, and thus was the beginning of 68 years of marriage, 3 children, 11 grandchildren, and a great extended family. Jean and Ray raised their family in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and moved to Colorado Springs in the early 90's. In Nov. 2006 they made Edmond, Oklahoma, their home. Crossings Community Church blessed them so much and made their few years there a joy. Pastor Gene Cowgill took Ray and Jean under his wing and loved them as his own. The family appreciates Crossings, Gene and the other pastors for their prayers, visits and kindnesses. Jean was preceded in death by two sisters (Aleen Terry Hart and Clarice Terry Gaudino) and a brother (William David Terry). Her surviving sibling, Marjory Terry Hodkin, lives in Arkansas City, Kansas. She is also survived by two nieces in Arkansas City - Terry Hodkin Eaton and Lyn Gaudino Meyer. She is also survived by her husband Raymond Dowen Orr, her children; Cheryl Morrison and husband Larry M. of Edmond, OK, Kim D. Orr and wife Diane of Boynton Beach FL, and Mark A. Orr and wife Leanne of Colorado Springs, CO, her grandchildren Dr. James S. Walker and wife Shannon, of Nashville, TN, Robyn E. Nassetta, and husband Keith of Boca Raton, FL, M. Scott Simmons and wife Jennifer of Deerfield Beach, FL, S. Todd Simmons of Orlando, FL Nathan Mark Orr of Honolulu HI, Bethany Love Orr of Hollywood CA, Noah James Orr (wife Tess) of Honolulu HI,Rachel Elizabeth Orr of Colorado Springs CO, Tyler Orr of Fort Collins, CO, Kelsey Orr of Colorado Springs, CO, Micah Orr of Colorado Springs, CO, Her Great Grandchildren; Dailey & Grace Walker, Talia, Alexa, Keira & Skyla Nassetta, and Shane Simmons. A Private Family service will be held in Arkansas City, Kansas. In lieu of flowers the family requests a tree be planted in memory of Jean.
