Mary Elizabeth Stam, 90, entered the Lord's presence on January 20, 2023. As she left this earth, she was surrounded by friends who loved her.
Mary was born in Paterson, New Jersey on May 13, 1932 to Jacob and Deana (Bowman) Stam. She graduated from Eastern Christian High School and went on to graduate from Wheaton College in 1953.
Mary had a passion to serve her Lord and to work with kids. She was able to do both during a rewarding career with Young Life from 1954 to 2005, working with Young Life clubs, camps, administrative support, and the accounting department. Mary began working with special needs kids in Partners (now known as Capernaum). She also served on the board and programs of Roundup Fellowship for thirty-two years. During her retirement years, she was a Kid's Hope Mentor for ten years.
Mary was a member of Cragmor Christian Reformed Church for over six decades, serving in many areas including as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, and treasurer.
Mary is survived by her sister, Ruth Stevens; brothers, David (Deidre) Stam, James Stam, and Robert (Ella) Stam; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul and John Stam.
Mary had many treasured friends who will miss her greatly. She always had a smile, was willing to listen, and when asked, shared her wisdom.
