She is survived by her husband Reed Grainger, daughter Ruth Grainger, brother Patrick Cavanaugh of Mantua, OH and sisters Mary Ellen Cavanaugh Sanders of Sun Lakes, AZ and Kathleen Cavanaugh Gallagher of Lenox, MA, along with numerous nieces and nephews and their offspring. She was preceded in death by her parents and step mother Miriam Webker Cavanaugh, daughter Emily Rose Grainger, brothers Jerry Cavanaugh and Walter Geist, sisters Deloris Geist Griffiths and Loretta Cavanaugh Bogden. Maureen was born is Ohio; she attended the University of Dayton and the University of Arizona. She was a school teacher in Cripple Creek-Victor school systems for many years. It is her wish, and that of her family that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a fund established at Community Bank in Cripple Creek for the preservation and maintenance of St. Victors Catholic Church in Victor, CO. Services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, May 21st, 2011 at St. Victors. Arrangements Mountian Memorial Funeral Home Divide CO.

Maureen and I met in kindergarten and fast became best friends. I treasure the many wonderful memories we shared growing up, especially at Mantua Center. (Her family often referred to Maureen, Rita and I as the "Three Muskateers") They were special, fun times and she was a very special friend.
My sincerest sympathies to all of her family.

Dear Reed and Ruthie,
Words, however kind,
can't mend your heartache:
but those who care and
share your loss wish you
comfort and peace of mind.
May you find strength
in the love of family
and in the warm embrace
of friends.

My deepest sympathy

Maureen taught me how to ride a horse & play "Heart & Soul" on the piano. I remember her fondly. She will always be a part of my memories...

My deepest sympathy to her family.

Maureen and I spent hours and hours together riding Kathy and Tony (her horse, my pony). We were Annie Oakley and Tagg a lot of the time with our six-shooters in holsters. We literally grew up together either at her house or mine all the way through high school. I will miss our emails greatly. My sympathies to all of her family. Knowing that she is now with Emily and her parents is comforting. God, please take care of her. She is special.

I remember spending many overnights at Maureen's during high school. It was so much fun and they were simple days with simple fun and laughs. I am so sad for those Maureen left behind ....but there is comfort in knowing she is in a better place. She was a very strong and courageous person. Farewell Maureen. May God rest your soul and bring you into his kingdom.
